Back when I was at Trinity, I got a bit obsessed with what the New York Times was doing with data and visual journalism. It was 2020, after all.
So, I ended up building a tool to teach 16-year-olds about different election voting systems, constituency configurations, and how those factors can impact the outcome of an election. Working with the wonderful Professor Brendan Tangney, we had planned to run in-person sessions through TCD’s Bridge21 programme. But, like many plans in 2020, COVID threw a spanner in the works.
We pivoted to running the sessions virtually instead—and honestly, it still went down a treat.
